Funding

Our books are free for readers and authors. We rely on a distributed funding model, where research institutions worldwide contribute towards the financing of our publications, similar to crowdfunding.

We cooperate with Knowledge Unlatched to make this work. We had three succesful funding rounds for 2018–20, 2021–23, and  2024–26. We are now renewing our funding for the period 2027–29. 

In the past, we published around 30 books a year. From 2027 onwards, we will publish 50 books a year.  The price for this funding round is €2000 EUR/year ($2,340, £1,740), which comes down to €40/book, a very competitive price.
